Black Mirror is one of my favourite properties on TV right now, and despite what I consider a misstep with last Christmas’s Choose-Your-Own-Adventure horror, “Bandersnatch,” the series barely has a bad episode in its four-season run.
I’m happy to report that series creators Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones have returned to their more traditional form (if Black Mirror can be considered traditional at all) with a three-episode continuation of the techno-thriller. Guest stars for season five include Miley Cyrus, Anthony Mackie, Damson Idris, Pom Klementieff, Angourie Rice, Madison Davenport, Andrew Scott, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Ludi Lin, Nicole Beharie, and Topher Grace.
There’s lots to unpack in the new trailer, including Miley Cyrus playing a pop star (huge stretch), some kind of virtual reality fighting game, a robot friend, and, of course, “what if phones, but too much?”
